Guide to the Kaanapali Lower Honoapiilani Food Truck Park

Guide to the Kaanapali Lower Honoapiilani Food Truck Park

Updated 2023

An exciting new addition to the West Maui casual dining scene, The Ka’anapali Food Truck Courtyard is located on Lower Honoapiilani Highway on the border of Kaanapali and Honokawai. It’s situated across the street from a strip mall that houses a Times Supermarket, Java Jazz coffee shop, snorkel rental shops, and an array of convenience stores. A number of resorts are within walking distance, such as The Honua Kai Resort, The Mahana, and The Kaanapali Beach Club.

This is definitely one of the best food truck courtyards on island, and it’s perfectly situated in West Maui for both residents and visitors to enjoy. It’s just a quick walk from a host of vacation accommodations; resorts, vacation rentals, and hotels. Here’s a great place for visitors to grab a meal that won’t break the bank, and allow them to taste the many unique flavors of Maui’s local food truck scene.

Guests can enjoy authentic Mexican and Thai food, comfort meals like pastas and burgers, Hawaiian-style smoke meat, fresh fish plates, teppanyaki, and other tantalizing options. There’s even dessert food trucks for those that want to top off their meal with ice cream, sweet Hawaiian popcorn, or our favorite, traditional Malasadas.

This Maui food truck courtyard doesn’t have any actual address, so we suggest that you Google Map 3350 Lower Honoapiilani Road, and keep your eyes peeled for lights on the ocean side of the road. A few of the trucks are open in the morning, but the courtyard doesn’t seem to truly come alive until about 5:30pm. While some trucks sit in the park full time, others rotate in and out, each with their own unique schedules.

To the best of our knowledge, we have put together a list of all the food trucks that currently reside in the Honoapiilani Food Truck Park as well as contact information, and hours where available. Not all trucks take credit cards, so make sure to bring cash.

El Taco Borracho

Tacos | Huaraches | Tortas | Quesadillas | Burritos

Open Daily 11:00am to 9:00pm

El Taco Borracho is the only mobile taqueria in this Maui food truck courtyard, and we definitely understand why! There’s no way anyone could compete with the authentic Mexican menu and the super friendly service with a smile. These guys are definitely on point! At El Taco Borracho, guests can order from a large menu of authentic Mexican offerings; tacos, taco plates, quesadillas, burritos, tortas, shrimp borracho plates, and yummy fish and shrimp plates.

Their menu is super reasonably priced, and we suggest that you order a few things. The fish and shrimp tacos (pictured below) are delicious, and the shrimp borracho plate is definitely one of a kind. Here’s a Maui food truck that you’ll want to re-visit whether you’re a Maui visitor on vacation or a resident.

Thai Food By Suri

Drunken Noodles | Fried Rice | Pad Thai | Stir Fry

Open Monday - Saturday 12:00pm to 8:00pm

Not only is Thai Food By Suri one of the most popular food trucks at this courtyard, but it’s also one of the most popular Thai food eateries on Maui. Suri’s menu is full of authentic Thai food favorites, and each dish is uniquely prepared with fragrant and flavorful spices, and locally grown ingredients.

Thai Food by Suri’s menu is large and includes a host of tasty Thai choices like starters, salads, soups, rice plates, noodles, and signature dishes. Favorite items include the Papaya Salad, Spring Rolls, Tomyum. Drunken Rice, and the Stir Fry Opakapaka and Ginger.

Da Food Anchor

Gyros | Pasta | Burgers

Da Food Anchor is operated by the same owner as El Taco Borracho. Just like their taqueria, this food truck is delicious, consistent, and full of menu items that all will enjoy. Da Food Anchor is like the ‘comfort food truck’ of the courtyard. Guests can order familiar menu options like appetizers, salads, gyros, pastas, sandwiches, and burgers. We also love the healthy portions, how they support local Maui farms throughout the menu, and the easy-going price points.

Favorite menu items at Da Food Anchor include the Crispy Calamari, Lamb Gyro, the Broke da Mouth Burger, and the Shrimp Alfredo (pictured below).

Hooked

Seafood | Poke Bowls | Mahi Mahi Sandwiches | Fresh Fish

Hooked is the premier fresh fish plate food truck at the Ka’anapali Food Truck Courtyard! Here’s where residents and visitors can taste the many flavors of Hawaii’s oceans with unique and healthy preparations.

First of all, all fish plates are served with your choice of white or brown rice. The menu has 10 options, and they’re all custom designed to savor the flavor. We love them all, but here’s an idea of our top picks from the Hooked menu. The Thai Dragon is shrimp marinated with red curry, lemongrass, and ginger. The Fish & Chips feature fresh Hawaiian Mahi Mahi tempura served with a citrus dipping sauce. The Poke Bowl (can be ordered spicy or not) is fresh Hawaiian Ahi tuna mixed with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, maui onions, green onions, and sesame oil. The Spicy Poke Bowl is served with a tasty chipotle aioli. Finally, the Fish Tacos (pictured below) are made with a local caught Hawaiian Mahi and spicy pineapple avocado salsa. The avocado dressing is served on the side so if it is too spicy for your liking you can easily leave it off.

You definitely can’t go wrong at this Maui food truck. Their food promises that you’ll be hooked, and back in no time!

Chunky Paniolo

Prime Rib | BBQ Ribs | BBQ Pulled Pork | Roasted Chicken

Maui’s Paniolo BBQ food Truck is where Hawaii and Western-style BBQ finds a happy home. Here is where guests can taste traditional local-style Hawaiian foods prepared in a traditional, yet unique BBQ fashion. When ordering at the Paniolo BBQ, first you decide on the protein, then a hot side, and a cold side. This spot has rotating specials like loaded fries with BBQ pork, pineapple salsa, and chipotle aioli, as well as some unforgettable BBQ sauces. It’s lip-smacking good!

Favorite menu items include Huli Huli Chicken, Pulled Pork, and Pipikalua Beef. We definitely suggest that you hit up this BBQ food truck early so you can order some of their signature dishes before they sell out!

Aloha Sweets

Ice Cream | Boba Tea | Popcorn | Malasadas

Whether you’re craving something sweet after your meal or you’re in the mood for a mid day treat to take to the beach, if you’re in Kaanapali Aloha Sweets is the place to go. Grab an ice cream cone, sweet Hawaiian popcorn, or our favorite, traditional Malasadas.

A Malasadas are deep-fried donuts that came to Hawaii with Portuguese plantation workers that are typically prepared using egg, butter, and evaporated milk, giving them their unique taste. Once fried, they are rolled in sugar, leaving an almost crisp, sugary exterior and soft doughy center. Make sure you grab a dipping sauce like lilikoi or Mango to eat with them or turn your doughnut into a sundae with ice cream and syrup on top! You’ll also find a few flavors of Boba, fried ice cream, and lemonade on the menu.

Da Best Pho and Vietnamese food

Pho | Bahn Mi | Rice & Noodle Dishes

Open Monday - Saturday from 4:30pm to 8:30pm

Previously named Lahaina Ba-Le, Da Best Pho & Vietnamese Food Truck has been serving up traditionally made Vietnamese cuisine for over 23 years. Their menu also offers numerous noodle and rice dishes as well as an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu, making it easy for everyone to find something delicious!

For those in the mood for a brothy fragrant soup, we love the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef and pork noodle soup) if you can handle some spice and the Wonton Soup w/ Egg Noodles, which are only available on occasion, so make sure to try it if they happen to have it when you visit. Otherwise, we recommend the BBQ Pork Banh Mi Sandwich, Kimchee Fried Rice with Short Rib, or the Sesame Korean Chicken.

The vegetarian and vegan dishes won’t disappoint either. We love the lemongrass tofu or eggplant with vermicelli noodles, as well as the Tofu Pho with vegetarian broth.

Wai Lemi

Wai Lemi specializes in fresh homemade lemonade using an assortment of fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs to create unique Hawaiian flavors. What we love most about this tiny shack is that they try their best to use the finest locally grown ingredients straight from Maui’s farms. You can pick up a large 32 oz Mason Jar of your favorite flavor to keep in your hotel or rental fridge for the entire family to enjoy during your stay and return any time to refill the jar for a fraction of the price.

Sparky’s

Loco Moco | Chicken Katsu | Mochiko Chicken | Hawaiian-style Smoked Meat

Open Tuesday-Saturday 5:00pm to 9:00pm

Sparky’s is owned and operated by Duke Sparks, a local boy that was born and raised on Maui. Sparky’s serves Hawaiian-style local fusion food with many signature items like plate lunches, the famous Mom’s Noodle Salad, Loco Moco, Chicken Katsu, Mochiko Chicken, Hawaiian-style Smoked Meat, and more.

Everything is delicious at Sparky’s and the Smoked Meat is a must order! The Smoked Meat is made from pork that’s soaked in a secret marinade for 5-days, and then slow smoked for 8-hours with Hawaiian Kiawe wood. When served, it’s sautéed in a wok with Maui onions and your choice of homemade fruit glaze flavors (guava, spicy pineapple, strawberry, or lilikoi).

Due to the fact that Sparky’s is so ono (yummy!) and so popular, we definitely suggest that you arrive early before their signature dishes sell out. Sparky’s has two food truck locations on Maui. Visit them at the Ka’anapali Food Truck Courtyard, or in Kahului at the intersection of Lowes, Target. and Walmart.

Lahaina Grindz

Kula Pork | Chicken Katsu | Shoyu Chicken

We highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat from Lahaina Grindz if you’re interested in trying some traditional Hawaiian cuisine. The bright blue truck is the only one in the food truck courtyard where you can try local favorites like Fish and Poi, Huli Huli Chicken, Saimin, and more. Similar to Japanese ramen, Saimin is a brothy wheat noodle soup and local comfort food among the Hawaiian Islands, as well as Hawaii’s national dish!
