1. Champagne Hale

 

When: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, through September

Experience the best of Maui's summer evenings at the Montage Kapalua Bay's Champagne Hale at The Cliff House—a pop-up bar and lounge summer series offering an idyllic atmosphere to enjoy premium champagnes and an innovative dining menu. Nestled atop the picturesque cliffs of Namalu Bay, the historic cliff house provides diners with some of the best views Maui has to offer. 

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, guests can enjoy a glass of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label or Rosé and a sampler plate of three desserts with their reservation. The menu features delights like smoked salmon finger sandwiches, lobster & shrimp salad, and an assortment of artisan cheeses, alongside an extensive champagne list available by the glass or bottle. With limited seating, this exclusive summer series is the perfect spot to unwind after a day at the beach, pool, or exploring the island. 

 

2. Nashville Nights

When: Saturday, August 10 · 7pm

Attention all country fans—Nashville is coming to West Maui! A limited summer series, Nashville Nights is a monthly country musical performance offered at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. August's featured artist is the renowned Platinum-selling, grammy nominated hit songwriter, artist, and performer, Eric Paslay. Enjoy an evening of music and delicious food and drinks at this live sunset performance overlooking Ka'anapali Beach.

3. Taverna's Maui Earth & Wine Dinner

When: Friday, August 30 · 5 - 8pm

Taste the flavors of Maui this summer with an enchanting evening at Taverna's Earth and Wine Dinner. Under the backdrop of the stunning Kapalua Mountains, surrounded by the warm glow of tiki torches, guests are promised an exclusive dinner event capturing the essence of an endless summer. 

Crafted by a talented culinary team, the menu blends Italian traditions with the freshest local produce, meats, and seafood, each dish telling a story of Maui's rich heritage. 4. Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival 

 

Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival

When: August 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Created by Kumu Hula, “Aunty Emma” the Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival is intended to be a celebration of hula and the Hawaiian culture. A free event thanks to the County of Maui and the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority, participants can engage in keiki activities and workshops, shop Hawaiʻi artisans, and watch hula accompanied by Hawaiian music throughout the day. You can also plan to enjoy a ʻUkulele Workshop taught by Jason Jerome of Lahaina Music at 12:30 p.m. or a Hula Workshop at 2 p.m. with Kumu Hula Kamaka Kukona.

5. Starry Nights & Culinary Delights

 

When: August 30th • 7pm-10pm

Experience an unforgettable evening under the stars with this unique fine dining and astronomer-guided star-gazing event. Attendees will enjoy a delicious one-hour dinner at the Hali’imaile General Store in Makawao before being transported to a private event space at the Maui Gold Pineapple Farm where expert astronomers will take you on a tour of Maui's night sky. Using a high-powered Celestron telescope with advanced computerized technology, you'll get a look into the cosmos with stunning detail. Each guide is careful to simplify complex astronomy concepts, making the experience accessible and engaging for all.

6. DIY Beauty Workshop's

 

Maui Ku’ia Estate Cacao Farm Workshop

When: August 10th • 5pm-7pm

Gather your friends or take an evening to yourself to laugh and mingle as you create your own Coffee Chocolate Body Scrub and Chocolate Lip Balm with Ku’ia Chocolate at this unique summer workshop. Relax and enjoy views of the lush West Maui Mountains as you are transported to the event site—a treehouse nestled within the Maui Ku’ia Estate Cacao farm. The two-hour workshop includes all materials, fresh ingredients, and expert instruction and is BYOB with ice and glasses provided. Attendees will take home two full-sized handcrafted skincare products, detailed recipe cards, and tips for incorporating natural ingredients into their skincare routine.

Lahaina Honey & Flower Farm Workshop

When: August 24th • 5pm-7pm

Enjoy a unique and fun experience that combines creativity with self-care, at this hands-on DIY event that will guide you through creating a Raw Beeswax Lip Balm and a Honey & Royal Jelly Sheet Face Mask. Get valuable insights into the benefits of natural skincare and discover the nourishing and antioxidant-rich properties of raw Maui honey. This two-hour workshop includes all materials in addition to expert instruction and is set against the panoramic views of West Maui from the Honey & Flower Farm's gazebo.

7. Maui Film Festival

 

When: August 29th - September 2nd

The Maui Film Festival Is a one-of-a-kind, open-air film festival featuring nightly festivities, premieres, and tributes from Celestial Cinema. Set against the stunning backdrop of Wailea, this premier summer event showcases a diverse array of films under the open sky, offering a unique blend of indie films, documentaries, and star-studded premieres. Attendees can enjoy outdoor screenings under the stars, with venues such as the Celestial Cinema providing breathtaking views alongside captivating stories. The festival also features filmmaker panels, Q&A sessions, and award ceremonies, creating an immersive experience that celebrates the art of filmmaking. New & Reopening Maui Businesses


 

1. Coconene

 

Where: Maui Harbor Shops, 300 Maalaea Road #201 Wailuku, HI 96793

Hours: Monday to Sunday: 8 AM — 6 PM

After losing their flagship store on Front Street in the 2023 Lahaina fires, CocoNene founders Kent and Lori Untermann have since opened another Maui store at the Maui Harbor Shops in Maʻalaea. The store offers unique, Hawaii-made home décor and personalized gifts, including picture frames, keychains, coasters, wood wall art, longboard letters, and more. Visit the shop's new location to show your support and take home a unique Hawaii-made souvenir!

 

2. 808 Sugar HI & Hawai’i Gelato

 

Where:2511 South Kīhei Road

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m, daily

The owners of Kihei favorite, 808 Deli, have recently opened a new storefront under its brand umbrella focused on ice cream and other sweet treats. Customers can enjoy several delicious desserts like custom cookie and gelato sandwiches, sundaes, handmade milkshakes, and more.

808 Deli was one of Hawai’i Gelato’s first customers when their doors opened on Lahaina’s Front Street in 2009. After the Gelato storefront was destroyed by the 2023 Lahaina fires, the 808 team reached out to the shop's owner, Roxy about offering her gelato in their shop. Once again visitors and locals alike can taste the shop's famous flavors like Lahaina Sands and Kona Mudpie gelato, prepared in their commercial kitchen in Lahaina and served at 808 Sugar HI.
